『국립현대미술관 연구』 제12호는 재난 속의 미술을 주요 주제로 삼아 2020년 한 해 동안 미술 현장의 변화와 실천을 들여다보고자 합니다. 첫 번째 섹션에서는 재난의 한가운데에서 국립현대미술관의 주요 큐레토리얼 실천을 들여다보고, 미술과 재난의 관계에서 파생된 담론의 재맥락화를 시도합니다. “재난의 시대 미술의 의미와 향후 역할은 무엇인가” “비대면 환경에서 미술관은 어떤 장소로 남아야 하며, 작품과 관객은 어떻게 만나야 하는가” 등의 질문을 토대로 위기 앞에서 미술과 미술관의 실천을 살펴봅니다. 두 번째 섹션인 미술관 연구는 국립현대미술관에 관한 논의를 확장하고자 2020년 주요 연구 성과와 전시를 공유하고, 소장품 및 연구 결과 등을 통해 미술관이 당대의 담론을 촉발하는 방식을 다루고 있습니다. The COVID-19 pandemic is reawakening a common, globally interlinked human sense of crisis that had been all-but forgotten after the end of the Cold War. The 2020 installment of MMCA Studies focuses on art during a disaster, examining the accelerating changes and efforts that have taken place in the art world over the past year and exploring what art has been doing amid the crisis. Beyond ushering in changes in the ways in which works of art are produced and shown, the protracted pandemic is posing a truly diverse set of challenges, from the threat to the future of the museum’s physical spatiality to the diversification of digital experiences and the need for solidarity across the entire museum ecosystem.
